CALYPSO GENERATORS
Generators for LC-MS(MS)
Any LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry) requires a reliable source of Nitrogen gas and to meet the specific market demands, F-DGSi’s very first gas generator that was manufactured was a Nitrogen generator. With more than 15 years of experience, our CALYPSO range has become the benchmark. Thanks to the robust architecture and stable operation helping the various manufacturers LC-MS to run continuously 24*7.
CALYPSO comes in two technologies, you can chose depending on the purity and sensitivity requested by your analysis. The two technologies available are called PSA and Membrane.

CALYPSO is the most advanced gas generator in the market for your LC-MS

Single and Multiple Gas for CALYPSO
Built with compressor / without compressor
CALYPSO offers a stand-alone nitrogen solution for LC-MS application. There are several models with or without an integrated air compressor:
- CALYPSO: 15 to 70 L/min in PSA technology
- CALYPSO M: 35 L/min and 70 L/min in Membrane technology
- CALYPSO DS: 20 to 55 L/min in the two-stage compression PSA technology
Compatible with all LC-MS manufacturers (Bruker, Sciex, Waters, Agilent, Thermo, Shimadzu, Perkin Elmer)
For the Thermo ASE application:
- CALYPSO DS HP: 40 L/min in PSA two-stage high pressure compression technology

The CALYPSO 2G is a dual-flow generator, which has been specially designed to produce nitrogen and dry air necessary to supply to the LCMS such as:
- Shimadzu: LCMS 8045, 8050, 8060, 9030
- Varian: 320-MS Single, 320-MS Triple Quadrupole, 500-MS Ion Trap
- Bruker: EVOQ triple quadrupole
- Perkin Elmer: LCMS-QSIGHT
Compatible with LC-MS manufacturers Shimadzu, Bruker, Perkin Elmer and Varian
The CALYPSO DP is a dual purity nitrogen generator required to supply to LCMS such as:
- Waters: APGC LC MSMS System
- Thermo: Orbitrap Exploris 120, 240 & 480 LCMS
- Agilent: 6400 & 6500 LC-MS + Collision Cell
Compatible with LC-MS manufacturers Waters, Thermo and Agilent
The CALYPSO 3G gas generator comes with three gas flows (N2 / Air / Air) necessary to supply Sciex LCMS. There are several models with or without an integrated air compressor:
- CALYPSO 3G.HF.SC: in PSA technology
- CALYPSO M 3G.HF.SC: in Membrane technology
Compatible with SCIEX LC-MS manufacturer.

Two technologies for CALYPSO at F-DGSi: Pressure Swing Adsorption Vs. Membrane Technology for gas generation process
The PSA absorption process uses carbon molecular sieve (CMS) filtration. The CMS retains the molecules of O2, CO2 and H2O, but also hydrocarbons from atmospheric air, while nitrogen passes through. CMS columns alternate between purification and regeneration modes to ensure continuous nitrogen production. The process thus takes place cyclically and fully automatically, offering nitrogen purities greater than 99.9995% and an average life of the columns which generally exceeds 10 years. The advantages of PSA are:
- High gas purity
- Constant purity over time
- Maximum removal of hydrocarbon
